Knowledge Project

For my  knowledge project in Personal Progress I wanted to learn how to refinish and upholster a bench.  My mom went to Goodwill and found a bench that she though would work great in our "Homework Room" the only problem was that it was a little dented on the top and that she wanted it to be white.

I leaped at the idea and  asked if she would teach me how to refinish and upholster. She said yes and I began the process.  My mom had already started to sand down the bench but it still needed to be sanded more so that was my first step.  When all of the bench was sanded them I applied 2 coats of prime. (I painted one let it dry and then painted the other one.)  Next I painted the bench white and did 2 coats of that. And finally applied a coat of clear paint. I was a lot of work and a lot waiting but it was defiantly worth it!

The bench was finally all painted the only thing left was to upholster the top of the bench. My mom and I had a little hard time finding a cute fabric to go on top the would go coordinate with our rug and the curtains  so we finally just decided to go with something plain on the top but it looked great. I loved the finished project! :)

T he bench when it was finally done! I learned so much from this project!
